Local conditions in Eldridge
Open-field wind and ag dust
Eldridge is ringed by working farm ground. During planting and harvest, fine dust rides the wind straight onto south and west glass. Rain moves it around; it does not rinse it.
Newer homes, taller elevations
Most Eldridge housing is two-story with walkout lower levels. The back elevation sits a long way off the ground — well past safe DIY ladder range, well within water-fed pole range.
Irrigation hard water
Newer subdivisions run sprinklers all summer. Heads aimed at the house leave calcium on ground-floor panes that bonds into the glass if it sits for a couple of seasons.
The typical Eldridge job
Two-story, walkout in the back, twenty-some windows, sprinklers running, kids' fingerprints on the lower glass. We quote it by pane count over the phone in about five minutes, and the number we give is the number on the invoice.
Exterior glass gets cleaned from the ground with a water-fed pole and deionized water — the whole back elevation, walkout included, without a ladder touching your gutters. Interior glass, sills and tracks get done by hand if you want the full visit.
- Firm quote by pane count before any work starts
- Second story and walkout backs reached from the ground
- Screens removed, washed, and put back in the right openings
- Before and after photos texted if you are at work
Getting ahead of the hard water
If you have sprinklers anywhere near the house, check the panes closest to the heads. Faint white rings are early mineral deposit — that washes off with a normal cleaning. Leave it two or three seasons and it etches into the glass itself, and then no cleaning will fully clear it.
The cheapest fix is aim: point heads away from the house, not just away from the sidewalk. The second cheapest is staying on a regular cleaning schedule. We will tell you honestly which stage your glass is in before quoting anything.
Gutters and siding while we are at it
Eldridge is young enough that a lot of the trees are still catching up, but the maples that are established drop plenty, and open wind pushes roof grit into the gutters year-round. If water runs over the front edge instead of out the downspout, the trough is full.
Siding on the shaded north side grows algae here like everywhere in the river valley. It comes off with a low-pressure soft wash and detergent — not with a pressure washer, which drives water behind vinyl and voids the warranty on newer siding.
What it costs
Quote-only, and firm. Price depends on pane count, stories, screens, whether you want interior as well as exterior, and the condition of the glass. We count the actual windows and give you a fixed number before any work starts — no hourly meter, no change at the end. Call (309) 507-6816 and most Eldridge homes can be quoted in one conversation.

Eldridge questions we get
- Can you quote an Eldridge home over the phone?
- Almost always. We count panes by style and size from your description and any photos you text us, and give a firm number before the appointment — no hourly meter, no changes at the end.
- Do you reach walkout lower levels and tall backs?
- Yes. The water-fed pole is sized for the extra height a walkout adds at the rear elevation, all from the ground, so nothing rests on your gutters or landscaping.
- Can you get sprinkler hard water spots off?
- Early mineral film, yes — it comes off with normal cleaning. Deposits that have sat for two or three seasons etch into the glass and need a separate restoration. We assess and tell you which you have before quoting.
- Do you serve the edges — Slopertown Road, LeClaire Road?
- Yes, all of Eldridge and the surrounding rural routes, with no travel charge.
