Fences get filthy from the ground up
A fence catches everything a house does, with none of the protection. There is no roof overhang keeping rain off it, so the whole panel stays wet after every storm. The bottom foot takes constant mower splash, mud and grass clippings, and the shaded side facing north grows a green film that never dries out enough to die back.
Vinyl fence is the most common around the newer Quad Cities subdivisions, and it shows growth badly — a white panel with algae in the texture reads as dirty from the street even when the yard is immaculate. Wood picks up the same growth plus grey UV oxidation, and iron and aluminum collect a chalky film and surface rust at the fasteners.

Gates get the same attention as the panels, including the hardware and the ground-level dirt line where the gate swings. It is the part of the fence you and every visitor actually touch.

Fence Cleaning questions we get
- Do you clean both sides of the fence?
- Yes, both faces of every accessible panel. If part of the run backs onto a neighbor's yard, mention it when you call and we will sort out access ahead of time.
- Can you get the green off vinyl fencing for good?
- We kill the growth rather than knock it off, so it stays clean far longer than after a plain pressure rinse. It is organic and it does eventually return; most fences here look good for a couple of years, less on a heavily shaded run.
- Will cleaning damage an older wood fence?
- Not the way we do it. Low pressure and a wood-safe cleaner lift the grey layer without tearing up the grain. Very old, dried-out cedar will improve rather than look new, and we will say so before quoting.
- Can you clean the fence and the deck together?
- Yes, and it is usually the cheaper way to do it since we are already set up in the back yard. Ask for both when you call.
